A poeira mineral s\u00e3o aeross\u00f3is na atmosfera que permitem a forma\u00e7\u00e3o das nuvens. \u00c9 muito dif\u00edcil formar as got\u00edculas de nuvem sem que pequenas part\u00edculas de aerossol atuem como &#8220;sementes&#8221; para iniciar a sua forma\u00e7\u00e3o! Os fitopl\u00e2ncton s\u00e3o organismos microsc\u00f3picos aqu\u00e1ticos capazes de realizar fotoss\u00edntese, sendo a base da cadeia alimentar dos ambientes aqu\u00e1ticos. (2021) realizou um estudo em um lago posicionado em uma \u00e1rea remota da floresta Amaz\u00f4nica, o Lago Pata (Figura 1). Em escalas de tempo de longo prazo, o registro sedimentar no Lago Pata aponta para desertos africanos (Figura 2), tanto ao norte do pa\u00eds quanto ao sul, assim como os solos dos Andes centrais e argentinos, como contribuintes potenciais. Nesse per\u00edodo, em vez de ser o deserto arenoso que agora conhecemos, o Saara estava coberto de gram\u00edneas e arbustos.
